Chamina: France Hiking Guidebooks


The Chamina trail guides are the best available for hiking the Massif Central section of France, primarily the Auvergne region, plus selected areas in Limousin, Dordogne, Burgundy, Picardie, Loire, Tarn, and northern Languedoc regions. Each guides tells you about the area you will be hiking in with various practicalities, including hiking tips, lodging, and maps. For the Auvergne region, they are better than the FFRP guides. They have three primary series. The Balades & Randonnees series concentrates primarily on hiking and bicycle routes, from a few hours to several days in the mountainous and more rugged areas of the region. The Pays Côte Chemin series features a variety of day and weekend recreational options from hiking, bicycling, horse riding, and auto circuits (indicated by each title) with more emphasis on cultural and historical surroundings. The Découverte & Patrimoine series focuses on the history and traditions of this area which gives you insight into the region you will be hiking in. All of these guides are in French. Translation services are available if needed.
