If you are a budget traveler, you will want this book. It is the best book we have come across for saving money on the sights in Paris, one of the most expensive cities in the world. After a general information chapter about Paris and various resources there, its chapters are devoted to the "free or cheap" sights/attractions within each arrondissement (There are 20 arrondissements in Paris, a government district with its own mayor and city hall.). Within each chapter, the sight entries follow the next one in a cohesive pattern so that you can easily see all sights in the same area before moving on to something new. Each entry contains address, price, and public transportation information.

Although some of the entries may seem simplistic, such as churches and parks, these sights contain some of the best architecture, art, and sculpture in Paris, plus free or cheap music/theatrical performances throughout the year. One useful feature is the inclusion of special free or reduced admission for the major sights in Paris such as the Louvre art museum, including a special entrance where the line is always short. The directions to each sight by Metro or bus are superb, plus this book guides you to some of the city's best offbeat locations not found in other guidebooks.

An extra bonus is the Suburbs of Paris chapter which shows you how to reach memorable sights outside of Paris that can be reached by its public transportation system, including bus, Metro, and the RER commuter train line. It does not include information about hotels and restaurants as there are plenty of other guides already covering this topic.
